I am not a Wallaceite. The Wallace party is running a candidate for Congress against me in my district. trying tu defeat me. I consider that I am a traditional American. an American who believes in the Constitution and the principles thereof. the principles which. once established. caused the greatest wave of immigration to this country that the world has ever known. from countries which employed the method of peacetime conscription. countries which have gone to rack and ruin and to defeat in military competition with free nations. because they depended upon conscription of their military personnel. I call to your attention. and I challenge the committee to show me a Nation. which has been able to perpetuate itself. which employed peacetime conscription. As an example.
