They marched on Washington today by the thousands to deliver an ultimatum to the Congress of the United States. I say that we are getting away from American ideals when we admit to this country from eastern Europe people with an Oriental philosophy. a philosophy not compatible with that of the people of the United States. Immigration by alientype races. far from strengthening a nation. constitutes the surest method of conquering a nation. That fact can be demonstrated beyond doubt. Unwise immigration policies mean the destruction of America. just as surely as they destroyed Greece and Rome. and just as surely as they destroyed every other great country of ancient times. The North American Continent was first inhabited by Indians. Then the western European branch of the white race. with far superior endowments. conquered the continent by immigration. Shall America now undergo a second conquest by immigration of races alien in spirit and purpose to those who built this Nation? That is the true significance of this issue. No issue more important can face the Congress.
