That would cut off a large number of people who otherwise might seek the benefits of the provisions of the amendment. I should like to modify the amendment further on page 2. line 1 by putting around the words "displaced person" in lines 1 and 2 quotation marks. and by striking out the word "section" in lines 2 and 3 and inserting in lieu thereof the word "Act". so that the clause would read. "is otherwise admissible under the immigration laws. and is determined to be a displaced person residing in the United States as defined in this act." Mr. President. I should like to modify the amendment further by adding another sentence on page 3. line 5. as follows: Any person seeking admission under the provisions of this section shall be subject to all of the requirements herein set forth in this act excepting as they may be altered by this section.
