Session #80 · 1947–49

Speech #800188249

I shall be very glad to support their being embraced in the final bill. I am simply calling attention to them because they are part of the displaced person population of Europe. no matter what definition is applied by the IRO. The comment I was seeking to make was that these people represent. as far as American immigration history is concerned. a type of people who have turned out to be among the best citizens of this country. They are people with a long agricultural background. they are a people which in my judgment could be distributed in the farming areas of America to the great benefit of our country. They in very short order would fit into the agricultural economy of this country.
