We shall be engaged in this argument for several days. I presume. and I should like to conclude my opening statement upon this subject. I was speaking of the number of displaced persons who have been admitted into this country already. and of the fact that it is estimated that 50.000 of them will have come in under our regular immigration laws by July 1. 1948. Atthe time of the filing of this report England had taken 36.000 displaced persons. most of whom were from the British zone of Germany or the British zone of Austira. Belgium had taken 25.000.
