Mr. President. under the provisions of Senate Resolution 137. which was agreed to in the closing days of the last session of the present Congress. the Senate Committee on the Judiciary. or any duly authorized subcommittee thereof. was directed to make a complete and full investigation of our .entire immigration system. This resolution providing that with respect to findings and recommendations on the subject of displaced persons a separate report should be made on or before January 10. 1948. Pursuant to Senate Resolution 137 a special subcommittee was appointed consisting of the Senator from West Virginia [Mr. REVERCOMBI. chairman. the Senator from Kentucky . the Senator from Missouri . the Senator from Nevada . and the Senator from Rhode Island .
