Speech #800115021

He was born in Wales. He came to this country when he was 6 years of age with his father. They were very. very poor. and as a poor immigrant boy he made the most of every opportunity. The record of his life is a record of the American tradition of a humble boy. almost penniless. climbing the ladder of fame and success. The mere recital of his public offices in itself should impress any individual of the wealth of opportunity here in America and the chance that every boy has. who will apply himself. the three terms that he served as Secretary of Labor. his two terms in the Senate. all speak of his ability and integrty.
