Session #80 · 1947–49

Speech #800110550

I wish to point out to the Senator that one of the difficulties we had with the immigration problem. when I served on the Immigration Committee. I recall. was in relation to the problem of how to deal with hardship cases. I hope the Senator from West Virginia and the committee in their study will give particular attention to this problem. which must be considered in connection with the applications of persons who wish to be admitted. Instances will arise where one member of a large family may be allowed to come to the United States and become a citizen.
