Session #80 · 1947–49

Speech #800102299

That is an improvement. but I will say to the Senator from West Virginia that I believe this investigation ought to be made by a joint committee of the two Houses. I believe that on that committee there ought to be Members aside from the members of the judiciary committee. in order that there might be a cosmopolitan viewpoint of the entire problem. not because a committee has jurisdiction of immigration per se. but because it is a human problem. I believe that members of other committees ought to be included on such an investigating committee. I do not intend any reflection on the Judiciary Committee. but we must all pass upon this problem.
