I may say to the gentleman. we are now admitting to this country. through normal channels and through illegal entry. in the neighborhood of two or three hundred thousand immigrants. many of whom are refugees. The evidence shows that those who are now coming here have little to offer. that less than 1 percent of those who came last year went to the farms. that practically all of them. 95 percent of them. at least. settled in the big cities of the country. adding to the slum problem. They are going to aggravate all of the social. political. and economic problems with which we are now strugglinghousing. jobs. and so on.
