Speech #800081763

Mr. Chairman. I know that many of my distinguished colleagues from the South have asked me why I have given my approval to the admission of Hawaii into the Union because of the racial issue which has been raised in this debate due to the large Asiatic and Mongolian population of Hawaii. Mr. Chairman. every Member of this House is aware of my position on this question. as I have stated same here on the floor of the House. and I do not think that I am inconsistent in my position in regard to this question in approving the admittance of Hawaii into the Union.
