Thb Allies liberated all that territory and set up a number of statesIran. Syria. Lebanon. Saudi Arabia. and a number of other statesin which the Arabs clearly had a majority. At the same time they set up a separate state in Palestine. in which. the Arabs also had a majority. but subject to the terms of the Balfour.Declaration which provided for the immigration of Jews until the majority was Jewish. There was no other reason to set up Palestine as a separate state. because under the Turkish Empire all of it had been merged with Lebanon and Syria. It was not a particularly separate governmental unit.
