Mr. Chairman. most Americans believe we must do everything possible to provide jobs for thq members of our armed forces when they return from the war. and also to provide jobs in peacetime industry for the millions of Americans now engaged in wartime industry. Most Americans therefore are opposed to lowering our immigration bars to permit a flood of European workers to enter this country to compete for jobs against our own workers. A further lowering of our tariff walls will let in a flood of foreign goods to compete on the American market with Americanmade goods. This is bound to result in fewer jobs for American workers.
