Speech #790035192

Speaker. I was hoping that I could support this resolution until I saw it. I thought it was going to be a simple resolution giving authority to the Immigration Committee to sit and hear these problems and giving it the additional right to issue subpena. There is absolutely no reason in the world for this committee to be running around the country holding hearings. When the many of present immigration laws were written I was a Member -of this House and I was a member of that committee. The Immigration Committee wrote these immigration laws which were the first in the world and they have proven to be absolutely satisfactory to our country. They have done what they were intended to do. We wrote them in committee sitting over here as this committee must do.
