Session #78 · 1943–45

Speech #780253440

At the same time I have some responsibility for seeing that we have the right kind of legislation on the books. The gentlemans interpretation of it might be somewhat different from mine. But I do think. and I said this the other day in the presence of the gentleman who is chairman of the Committee on Immigration. I do think the House is entitled to a little bit better treatment of the immigration problem than we are getting. All we get is a half dozen or more bills amending the immigration law. whereas I think we should have some general bill to take care of all these things.
