Session #78 · 1943–45

Speech #780179148

The WrightCompton resolution introduced in the House was intended to reaffirm the views previously expressed by this body in 1922. and to express the will of America that her pledged word be kept to the letter. It was hoped that this resolution might aid in the formulation of an American policy which would clarify the confused condition that has prevailed. As but one humble Member in the great Congress of the United States. I plead that the doors of Palestine should be kept open to Jewish refugees. Our commitments and our sacred honor as a Nation are at stake. This cause should enlist the interest and support not only of every Member of this body but of every fairminded American.
