Now the gentleman from California. as I understand his amendment if it is not changed again. is going to submit an. amendment that provides In substance that if an individual has signed a written statement on a Government formwhatever the Government form is I do not know. but the gentleman may define it when he takes the floorbut if he has signed such a statement sometime since December 7. 1941. then that signed statement can be brought into a naturalization courtand there are about 2.000 of themand that individual be given a hearing and then the court will determine whether or not the signature on that Government form is true and correct. The gentleman from Michigan has well pointed out that there are thousands of them. If the court finds that he signed the statement on a Government form. then that individual may lose his citizenship.
