When liberation with Allied victory comes. all others will savor the lifting of oppression. the freedom to return to life and liberty. save the Jews. Others have at least a shred of hope of survival. but the Jews are in a death chamber. The statement of the President setting up the new War Refugee Board happily recognized the especially tragic plight of the Jew. The President appreciates that extraordinary efforts may be required in order to aid and help Jews now in the Nazi charnel house. The War Refugee Board is presided over by the Secretaries of War. Treasury. and State. These men cannot do the real work. the spade work. required.
