Right now we have pending in this Congress a. resolution which. if passed. might bring literally millions to our shores. I cannot believe the American people want that done. If my amendment should be passed. then there would be no possibility of these great throngs .coming from Europe and elsewhere. I. therefore. submit this amendment. Mr. Chairman. which. frankly. will have the effect of shutting out immigration. By its passage. we can be assured that American jobs after the war willgo to American workers. including the millions of American soldiers who will be returning from the battle fronts of the world and who will have a right to expect to receive these American jobs.
