Mr. Speaker. I am in complete accord with the purposes of the bill repealing the Chinese exclusion laws to place Chinese persons on a quota basis and to make persons of the Chinese race eligible to become naturalized United States citizens and I hope that the measure will be passed by tho House with a substantial majority. This will remove discriminations against the Chinese. which have been a source of misunderstanding in the relations between our nations for over 60 years and have aroused widespread resentment among the Chinese people. The original act of exclusion. however. was not born of ill will toward the Chinese people.
