I hope that other Members will take the time to read the article on absenteeism in the March issue of Fortune Magazine. That article indicates that there Is a lack of information about absenteeism. It indicates that there are numerous causes. varying from locality to locality and from area to area. for absenteeism. among which the article mentions: First. Improper scheduling of the flow of materials. Second. The hoarding of employees. Third. Sickness. which accounts for probably half of all absences. Fourth. Bad housing. Fifth. Poor transportation. Sixth. Practice of migrant workers to take a week end off to visit their family. Seventh. Failure of management to undertake proper steps to cure petty irritations on the Job.
