I appreciate this expression on the part of the gentleman from West Virginia and believe with you that a vote to deport an alien agitator is commendable in any Member. On October 6. 1941. H. R. 1644. for the deportation of Harry Bridges. was passed by an overwhelming vote in the House and was sent to the Senate. where it is still before the committee there. On December 3. 1941. H. R. 4139. known as the Smith antistrike bill. passed the House by a vote of 252 to 136. It immediately went to the Senate and has remained there in committee ever since.
