Session #77 · 1941–43

Speech #770132662

I am not complaining against any person for wishing to become an American citizen. But I am opposed to those who come in ostensibly as visitors. overstaying their time. and then scheming to get citizenship while there are others from the same countries who would like to come in regularly under the quotas. It was against this practice that I complained to the immigration authorities and was advised that this was being done. I presume that this is accomplished by reason of a claim that the quota may not have been exhausted. or some similar reasen. I want you experts to find just what the facts are.
