They did rot come in having committed a crime. because they could not come into this country if they had committed any sort of a crime. It is after they came that the crime was committed in this country. They were good people when they came in here but bad environment. poor housing conditions. bad company. lack of education. brought about a bad condition in certain sections of our country. and they committed crimes. and under the immigration law if you commit any misdemeanor within 5 years after your entry. you can be deported. or if you commit two felonies. involving moral turpitude after 5 years. you can be sentenced to imprisonment for a year and a day. and be deported. and under the 1924 immigration law we could deport them at any time. What happened? In the last 20 years these people have been punished.
