Session #76 · 1939–41

Speech #760296409

Mr. Speaker. I wish to compliment the gentleman who just preceded me on the splendid thoughts he gave us on Americanism. I agree 100 percent with what he says. I have had experience before the Committee on Immigration and Naturalization. and I know of at least one occasion where they leaned over backward and committed an injustice in a hardship case. I had that case myself. I take this time to answer in part my good friend the gentleman from Mississippi [Mr. RANnI. I realize that he controls the time and will have the last word. nevertheless I do want to say a word about our California situation.
