Mr. Speaker. ladies and gentlemen of the House. I fully appreciate. especially at this time. that it will be very unpopular to say anything in the defense of Harry Bridges. or in opposition to the deportation bill pending before us. but notwithstanding that fact. I feel it my solemn duty to call attention to the House andthe country that such legislation is in violation of .the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights. I feel there is not a lawyer of experience who is a Member of the House who will have the temerity to claim that the bill will be held constitutional.- But notwithstanding this. they may and probably will support the bill. because it will subject them to the lesser amount of criticism.
