I will say to the gentleman that some of the people I am talking about are now 50. 60. and 70 years of age. They have toiled and worked hard to raise their families and could not possibly go to school. as some other gentlemen have had the opportunity to do. and be able to answer a lot of questions dealing with the Constitution of the United States. Some of them can read and write. but they cannot answer all these questions. The point of the matter is that these old people ought to be given an opportunity to become citizens of the country for which they have been working for years. irrespective of their disability to pass a rigid literacy test.
