Session #76 · 1939–41

Speech #760201780

Some of our newspapers editorially condemned a law which would snatch away this husband and father. I do not condemn the law. but I condemn the administration of the law. If those who are charged with the proper administration of the law had done their duty. that Hindu gentleman from India would have been deported. and as a result thereof he would not have married in the United States. and the time would not have arrived when he would bring unhappiness to his dear wife and to his innocent little children who have to suffer. I am in entire sympathy with the gentleman. I think that because of the negligence of those in charge of the administration of the law itself. they are to blame. and that some relief should be extended to that man and to his wife.
