Mr. President. in closing I wish to refer briefly to a resolution before this body. which was offered by the junior Senator from Oregon . He submitted the resolution some time ago. and it reads. in part. as follows: That the Committee on Immigration. or any duly authorized subcommittee thereof. is authorized and directed to make a full and complete investigation of the immigration of aliens into and the deportation of aliens from the United States with a view to determining. among other things. (1) the extent to which aliens have been permitted to enter or remain in the United States in violation of the immigration laws. (2) whether any deficiencies exist in the immigration or deportation laws or in the administration thereof which permit undesirable or deportable aliens or aliens who compete with citizens of the United States in securing employment to enter or remain in the United States. and (3) necessary steps to be taken in order to correct any such deficiencies and to prevent the continuation of any violation or circumvention of the immigration or deportation laws. The committee or subcommittee shall report to the Senate. at the earliest practicable date. the results of its investigation. together with its recommendations. Mr.
