We have a capacity to produce all the tableware needed for the American market. We have thousands of idle pottery workers seeking work. Yet. for Illustration. while our American laws prohibit the entry of Asiatic workers into this country. the products of such workers. according to a survey made and published by the United States Tariff Commission supply some 40 percent of the tableware yearly sold in the United States. Such a condition naturally transfers the badly needed job opportunities of American workers to the slave wage paid workers of Japan. That which is true of our condition is likewise. no doubt. true in many other industries.
