Mr. President. the individual involved was ordered deported because of a charge that he had committed a felony. A bond in the amount of $500. furnished by an insurance company. was posted. Subsequent to the posting of the bond. the felony charged against the individual involved was dropped. It is my understanding that he was found innocent of the charges. and that automatically delayed the deportation proceedings. or set them aside. In the meantime the $500 involved had been turned over to the Treasury. and there was no way of making repayment. If the money had not been in the Treasury. it would have been automatically repaid. as is pointed out in the report.
