Session #76 · 1939–41

Speech #760055623

I am interested particularly In that part of the Senators discussion which has to do with immigration. As a member of the Committee on Immigration and of the subcommittee which has the Senators bill in charge. I have endeavored to ascertain the approximate number of aliens now in this country. As nearly as I can ascertain. 4.000.000 is about the correct number. I remind the Senator that most of us do not know how many 4.000.000 people are. That is more people than the entire population of Oregon. Washington. Idaho. Montana. Wyoming. and Nevada. I agree with the Senator that it is time to prevent more aliens coming into this country.
