Session #76 · 1939–41

Speech #760053307

Mr. Chairman. judging by the discussion that has been going on. this bill. which the Committee on the Judiciary has seen fit to consider. certainly is a 100percent immigration bill. I wish they would take from our committee some bills which are a little tougher than the one now under consideration. because. in my opinion. it is absolutely a disgrace to bring the pending bill onto the floor of the House. As I said a few days ago. I am not defending the criminaL I will go as far as any man on this floor in ridding this country of criminals. but the gentleman from Kentucky made a passionate speech on what a great bill this is in its treatment of those who are trying to overthrow our Government.
