Session #76 · 1939–41

Speech #760039279

The gentleman from Ohio seems to have the impression that these bills were dumped back here on the floor without any consideration by the new committee as now constituted. but. as a matter of fact. a subcommittee was appointed by the chairman of the Committee on Immigration to go over all these bills again. and the subcommittee reported back to the main committee that there was no objection to the bills which had passed at the last session. Therefore. I should think that such an amendment as proposed by the gentleman would do an injustice in a lot of worthy cases.
