We have considerable property that belongs to people of that district who are now really Frenchmen. We can enter into no reciprocal agreement with France without this amendment. This bill gives the authority to the Secretary of State and the State Department to enter into reciprocal trade agreements on particular occasions and by reason thereof we will return to citizens of AlsaceLorraine. who are now citizens of France. about $270.000 worth of property that we hold. belonging to them. and for which we have no title. and in return. by reciprocal agreement. we will get $400.000 for American citizens who were naturalized before 1920 by reason of this bill. Mr. Speaker. this bill passed the Senate and has been unanimously reported by the Ways and Means Committee of the House.
