Session #75 · 1937–39

Speech #750088473

As you know. a book has been published about the Constitution. We all know something about the book. It is a very beautiful little booklet entitled "The Story of the Constitution." It is now proposed that the Immigration and Naturalization Service of the United States shall furnish to the various clerks of the courts of the country enough of these books so that a copy may be given to each immigrant when he gets his naturalization papers. There are several Members in the House here who want to offer amendments to this bill and I shall be pleased to yield them some time so they may talk about their amendments. because I suspect these amendments will be important. will be very profound. and that their profundity will reflect the time and energies spent by the gentlemen and the great learning of the gentlemen.
