Session #75 · 1937–39

Speech #750060876

Mr. Chairman and colleagues. we have before us today what I regard as one of the most important matters that could come before the House. H. R. 6391. a bill introduced by Mr. DIES. to authorize the deportation of criminal aliens and certain other aliens. and for other purposes. It Is claimed by the chairman of the Committee on Immigration and by the author of this bill. Mr. DIEs. that it would mean the deportation of approximately 23.000 criminal aliens. This proposal is most desirable. indeed. I do and will give such provisions in this bill my hearty support. It Is claimed that this is a compromise bill.
