May I say this business of deporting this class of people is largely a bugaboo. There Is more fancy than fact in It. It will not be found necessary to deport these people. The deporting officials in this country have plenty to do deporting gunmen and many others they have not been able to deport for many reasons. such as insufficient funds and no place to send them. The Immigration Committee and the Congress have been busy for 2 or 3 years trying to pass a law that will obviate the necessity of ail these individual cases. The Dies bill is about ready to come up for consideration and the Starnes bill will no doubt be considered. and both of these are fashioned after the Jenkins bill. which passed this House 2 or 3 years ago. and would have passed the Senate had it not been lost in a filibuster. These bills will or can easily be amended to provide for this whole group. whether they be 15 or 15.000.
