I move to strike out the last word. I think my good friend from Texas did not understand my remarks or my intentions on this matter. My only hope in saying that it might be better to recommit the bill was that the Committee on Immigration and Naturalization might take the bill back to their committee and embrace and enlarge upon the subject that we would not only protect the American laborers on the border of Mexico and on the border of Canada. but throughout the entire United States. That is my only thought in this matter. I am for the bill in its present form if we can do no better. but if this law is passed as it now stands. I fear that there will not be another single thing come out of the Committee on Immigration and Naturalization regarding this particular subject. The only object I had was in directing the attention of the House and the Committee to the allimportant fact that we should broaden and enlarge upon the bill under consideration to the extent that we would not only protect the American laborers on the borders of Canada and the United States and on the borders of Mexico and the United States. but all over the United States.
