Yes. they are here in violation of the law. The present law gives the Department no discretion to keep them in the country. In my judgment we ought not to do that. If aliens violate a law. they ought to be deported. If they come here illegally. we are not responsible for that. If they are here illegally. it may work some hardship to deport them. but we are not responsible for it. It is their responsibility. and when they come to this country under those circumstances. In violation of law. they ought to be sent back to the country from. which they came.
