I will state that I have made inquiry in regard to that matter. but I have been unable to obtain from anyone any definite information on the subject. Why? Because. Mr. President. we have not the slightest idea as to how many aliens there are in this country. because we have been lax in the administration of our immigration laws. because we have been lax in everything pertaining to aliens. Our sympathies have been going to them and not to the American people. I think it is high time that our sympathies should turn to our own firesides. to our own thresholds. to our own homes. to our own people.
