Session #74 · 1935–37

Speech #740149866

It does not authorize anyone to do anything and it does not direct anyone to do anything. It makes no changes in the present law. It adds nothing to our present immigration laws. Permit me to say in passing. as a member of the Committee on Immigration and Naturalization. I am ready at all times. as are other members of that committee. to consider the socalled "hardship cases ". if the Department of Labor will bring those cases before us and lay the facts before us and permit us to have an opportunity to study them and to pass the necessary remedial legislation if such is required.
