Session #74 · 1935–37

Speech #740064468

I want to repeat to this House that several weeks. ago the Committee on Immigration unanimously reported out a bill to repatriate aliens who are stranded in the United States. who are willing to return to their native lands. who are on relief rolls. and one month and a half relief to these aliens would take them back to their homes and keep them there. but consideration of this bill was objected to on the Consent Calendar day by my good friend. Mr. BLANTON. who talks so much about making jobs for American citizens by keeping out aliens. Why does he not permit this House to vote upon this bill which would get rid of some of the aliens who are here and are willing to go home?
