I did not intend to say anything on this bill. but I was just called to the telephone by the Secretary of Labor who said she understood it had been stated that these were not administration measures. The President has not said anything to me about them. I am frank to say. but the Secretary of Labor asked me to say that the President had expressed a very great interest and his very great desire to have all three of these immigration bills passed. She said that this deportation bill. in her opinion. was the most important and most necessary of all the bills. Let me read to you a letter from Commissioner MacCormack. Those of you who know him will recognize that he is not only a splendid gentleman. but he is a splendid officer of this Government.
