Session #73 · 1933–35

Speech #730173869

They are not now assuming any responsibilities as citizens of the United States. If they stay here. I want them to assume such responsibilities along with the rest of us. The bill provides that they must have been in the United States continuously since entry. They must be persons of good character. They must not be subject to deportation under any law other than the Immigration Act of 1924. This is a bill that gets after the Bolsheviks of the country. This is a bill not in favor of the kind of aristocracy that is bothering my friend from Ohio in his political campaign in Ohio.
