Mr. Speaker. there has been a resolution presented here proposing to spend $2.000 for investigating the smuggling of Mexicans and Chinese coolies into this country. I believe that is the sole purpose of this resolution. I am in hearty accord with this proposition. as I represent. in all probability. one of the largest manufacturing districts in this country. I represent the Calumet district. described by captains of industry as the " greatest industrial region ii the world ". "the workshop of the universe ". and I stand here to protest against the invasion of this type of worker into my district and to fight for the rights of the citizens of the region I represent.
