I am entirely sympathetic with the thought expressed by the Senator from Louisiana. he is entirely correct. but there is one aspect of this matter which we should consider for a moment. I do not think we can object that those American citizens who have a vital. direct interest shall present their interest on the floor of the Senate. We have five canesugar States that have what might be called a selfish interest. We have also 17 beetsugar States. all vitally interested in this subject. Then we have the Pacific Coast States very greatly concerned in the matter of immigration. Mr. President.
