Session #71 · 1929–31

Speech #710199304

The report says: Congress amended the naturalization act May 9. 1918. permItting all such citizens to resume their citizenship by taking the oath of allegiance to the United States in some court having Jurisdiction ovea naturalization or before consuls of the United States if such veterans were abroad. The record of such repatriation was certified to the Department of Labor and the Department of State. but no provision was made in the law for such veterans to obtain a certificate showing that they were again American citizens. They obtain it by due process in the court. but what they need is a paper to show that they have done it. That is all there is to this bill.
