Session #71 · 1929–31

Speech #710192519

This is the same bill to which the Senator objected the other day and I explained to him that it was for the benefit of certain of the Chinese race born in America. now American citizens. married prior to 1924. It does not affect anyone married subsequent to 1924. At the time they were married there was no objection to their bringing Chinese wives into this country. At the present time they are married and living in this country with wives of their own race. but if they visit their relatives In China they are unable to bring their wives back with them. It is a hardship upon them. It is not letting down the immigration bars at all.
