This bill as it came to the Senate proposes to take care of women who have lost their citizenship by foreign marriage and who. by reason of widowhood or otherwise. have a desire to return to this country. They may become citizens now. The next feature In the bill relates to the general amnesty as regards naturalization to correspond with the restricted immigration act of July 1. 1924. It will be recalled that that bill passed the Senate unanimously last year. but was not accepted in conference by the House. The other features of the bill are largely administrative. having to do with conditions under which proof of residence must be had. also that the requirements of ability to read and write shall apply to certain persons who desire to come into the United States.
